A Word of Hope for South Africa:
Trusting in God’s Plan for Our Future
Last year, in November, we went camping with friends. As we sat and chatted, one of our friends asked everyone what scripture was on their hearts. This question stirred something deep within me. The Holy Spirit repeatedly brought one passage to mind—Ezekiel 34. This passage, a Prophecy Against the Shepherds of Israel, carries a stern warning and a profound message for spiritual leaders, me included.
Ezekiel 34: A Call to Shepherds of the Nation
Ezekiel 34:1-10 (AMP):
"Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel... Woe (judgment is coming) to the [spiritual] shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock?..."
In this scripture, the Lord reprimands the spiritual leaders of a nation, emphasizing that when a nation is in disarray, it often reflects a lack of leaders with true shepherds’ hearts. A true shepherd, as exemplified by David, does not merely see sheep—they see an inheritance for the Lord. David, as a shepherd boy, defended his father’s sheep, risking his life to slay a bear and a lion. Why? The Holy Spirit revealed that David had a kingdom mindset. He understood that everything his father had was from God and needed to be stewarded with reverence.
This mindset translated into his actions as a leader of Israel. When Goliath challenged the armies of Israel, David saw beyond the immediate threat. He understood that Israel was God's chosen people—His "portion"—and he acted with faith, courage, and a heart aligned with God's will.
The Warning for Spiritual Leaders Today
In 2022, the Lord gave me a warning for the church. He called us to pray and align our hearts with His will so we can fulfill His purposes and share in His glory. This requires us to handle the trials and opposition God allows—not with anger that might cause others to reject the reflection of Jesus in us, but with compassion that draws them closer to His heart. By extending love even to our enemies, we embody His love for all whom He loves. Yet, as the Holy Spirit continues to bring Ezekiel 34 to my spirit, it is clear that many leaders have not heeded this call. They have continued to look out for themselves rather than tending to the inheritance God has entrusted to them.
This neglect is grave. If we do not repent and turn back to God, we risk being overtaken by the giants in the land—spiritual adversaries, challenges, and trials that threaten to consume us. The Lord is calling us to seek Him continually, to repent for how we have handled His sheep, and to embrace His guidance. Only then can we step into the destiny He has prepared for us.
Yet there is Hope for South Africa
As South Africa navigates a time of immense challenge—economic hardship, political instability, and division—it is vital to remember that our future is in the hands of the Almighty. He has a plan for this nation, and we are being set up to fulfill our God-given destiny.
The African Covenant Party (ACO) highlights four pillars that align closely with this vision of hope:
Unity, Respect, Order, and Prosperity. These principles resonate deeply with the calling God has placed on our nation and our leaders.
1. Unity
Psalm 133:1 reminds us, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” Our diversity as South Africans should be a source of strength, not division. By embracing unity, we position ourselves to reflect God's glory and walk in His purpose.
2. Respect
Matthew 22:39 commands us to, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Respect begins with recognizing the inherent dignity of every person. This principle is foundational to healing and restoration, enabling us to build relationships that reflect the grace of Christ.
3. Order
1 Corinthians 14:40 urges, “Let all things be done decently and in order.” True order, grounded in integrity and accountability, provides the stability necessary for a thriving society.
4. Prosperity
Jeremiah 29:11 assures us of God's plans to “give you a future and a hope.” Prosperity encompasses more than material wealth—it speaks of flourishing spiritually, socially, and economically. It is the fruit of a nation aligned with God's will.
Preparing for the Future
The coming years will be critical. By 2026, we will reach the pinnacle of God's judgment if we do not seek His face and align ourselves with His principles. Yet, there is hope. The trials we face are opportunities for God’s glory to be revealed. As we step into the opportunities He creates, our hearts and motives must be pure. Are we leading, ministering, and helping others with integrity, or are we driven by selfish ambition?
The time is now to repent, seek God’s forgiveness, and embrace His guidance. If we do, His Spirit will quicken us, enabling us to fulfill His will and witness His glory manifest in our nation.
South Africa hear the heart of God
South Africa is on the brink of transformation, but it requires faith, obedience, and a heart aligned with God. Let us be like David—faithful shepherds who protect and nurture the inheritance entrusted to us. Let us build a nation rooted in unity, respect, order, and prosperity, reflecting the heart of God.
"For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37) Together, as South Africans united in faith, we will see a new day dawn—a day of hope, healing, and abundant blessing. The future is bright because
God has a good plan for South Africa.
