Jeremiah 9:24New
International Version (NIV)
24 but let the one who boasts boast
about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
If you ever thought your pain and sorrows were or are worse
than someone else's you need to shift your focus to the cross because Jesus
went through the worst pain anyone could NEVER even imagine but still he never,
ever belittles what we go through by thinking we are crying over
"nothing" because He went through worse and got through it. Instead
he relates (not dominates), which cause compassion to brew in His heart and
that places Him in a position where He can reach out and pull us out of our situation into Him (who is victorious, because He has
overcome the world). So yes the truth may be that your pain may have been worse
than someone else's according to you, but then that is only because God knew
how much you could handle (1 Kor 10:13 ...God is faithful; He will not let us
be tempted beyond what we can bear) but the fact that you got through it was
not so that you could belittle others but rather that you would relate and have
compassion so that God can use you to help other people to also stand
victorious in Him as you do. No person is better than another you may just
experience, make use of and be aware of God's grace upon and in your life more
than the person next to you but let that not "go to your head" and
drive your heart further away from God's by boasting in yourself rather than in
God and therefore becoming self-righteous. Instead, let us guard our
hearts, humble ourselves and be willing to reach out to one another by helping
and guiding rather than boasting. God may we be moved in You to be compassionate
to one another!
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
